Demian Maia DVDs
I haven't looked at too many instructional DVDs in the past couple of years and there are a few reasons for this but the main one is have I have had little time to spend watching, reviewing and analyzing the material on the DVDs. Yes, this probably means I have missed out on some top of the line DVDs here and there but one of these days I will probably catch up on all of my viewing material. Recently, however, I have looked at some of the material in the Demian Maia DVD series and I have to say that it is one of the best DVD sets to come along in a while. Ok, I know most people who write detailed reviews review every volume in a set but, folks, I haven't had the time to finish the entire set but I have watched the escape from the side control DVD and I have watched some of the defending the guard volume and I am really, really impressed with the material. What makes this particular DVD set is that it doesn't so much show new techniques as much as it revisits basic techniques and fills in a number of missing details and fine points that allow one to make the basics work well. The side control escape volume, for example, is loaded with lots of material that will greatly enhance the ability to get off your back and, hopefully, get off your back at will. I'll write more on this set as I continue to view it but I really don't need to watch the whole thing to recommend it as what I have seen so far is really, really good.
